Apply to be an IPSE Intern

The UW-Madison Interdisciplinary Education Group has paid internships available for graduate students as part of a program funded by the National Science Foundation, Internships in Public Science Education (IPSE). The IPSE Program is a great way to learn about exciting research advances in nanotechnology while "Exploring the Nanoworld" and working with UW personnel to create informal science education prototypes.
Opportunities include:
- Learning about informal science education through program development
- Creating and testing a exhibit, video and activity prototypes
- Learning about assessment and evaluation strategies in informal science education
All majors/disciplines are welcome. No particular expertise is required; our staff will provide training. Interns must have an interest in public science education.
Position: graduate student PA position, 33-50%
(13-20 hours per week, on average) includes tuition remission
When: The IPSE program runs during the Fall and Spring semesters each academic year. Interns must begin the program in the Fall, we do not accept applications for the Spring semester.
Where: University of Wisconsin-Madison
Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted on or before August 15, 2007 for the 2007-2008 internships program.
Eligibility: Interns must be full-time graduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison at the time of the internship. You must be either a current UW-Madison student or have been accepted to a UW-Madison graduate program at the time of application. Applications from students at other schools WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

You must already be accepted to or enrolled in a UW-Madison graduate program to apply for this internship.
Internships in Public Science Education (IPSE) will require major time commitments during the semester. Interns work at least 13 hours per week, mostly during the week and some weekends.
The IPSE program will require occasional travel during the semester for professional development activities and prototype assessment.
